Locker Room Addition
Watermark was awarded a contract from General Mills/Yoplait to expand their facility by designing and building a locker room adjacent to the existing Locker Room and Café at the southwest corner of the building.
The design of the new addition included architectural, structural, and civil site drawings as necessary to detail the building. The project site was in a Flood Plain Zone which necessitated inclusion of a compensatory flood storage area in the design. Watermark was responsible for securing all necessary permits.
Watermark constructed a new 800 square foot addition, concrete slab on grade room. Construction included the excavation for required foundations and four inch concrete with wire mesh slab on grade. Suitable material was spread and compacted under the slab on grade. The structure was concrete block of similar style to the existing building. The height of the interior space matched the existing height in the Café. The roof was constructed with metal decking, insulation, and a thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) membrane. The new roof drain was tied into the existing roof drainage system. The existing door from the Café to the exterior wood deck served as an emergency exit. The HVAC requirements were designed and constructed for the new addition. An automatic wet pipe sprinkler system was installed to match existing fire protection. The fire alarm system was upgraded as an extension of the existing system.
