Elementary School Owner’s Project Manager
C.W. Morey Elementary School Lowell, Massachusetts Watermark provided Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) services for the Morey Elementary School in Lowell, MA. The school was a 60,000 square foot Pre-K through 6th grade elementary school located in the Highlands neighborhood. Watermark performed a review of the 90% and 100% design plans and specifications and provided comments to the City and the Architect. Groton Naval Submarine Base Groton, Connecticut Watermark provided overall design management; architecture; civil and geotechnical engineering; Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Administration; and construction management for the design-build of an indoor small arms range at the Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT. The indoor small arms range building includes firing ranges; an armory; and administration and support spaces. The firing ranges provide specialized firearms qualification capabilities including known distance small arms qualification, tactical maneuvering training, and simulated scenario training. Western Canal Lowell, Massachusetts Watermark was awarded a contract by the City of Lowell, in cooperation with the National Park Service, involving the development of the Western Canalway. Work involved the demolition of existing canal wall features, storm drainage system repairs, civil and structural modifications, and the installation of new site features. The project included new concrete retaining walls, a structural steel supported boardwalk, brick and paved walkways, lighting, and landscaping. Cape Cod Canal Cape Cod, Massachusetts Watermark was awarded a contract to complete repairs to the drainage system and rip rap embankment slopes of the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne and Sagamore, MA. This project included repairs to several drainage culverts entering the canal from drainage areas on both sides of the canal. The purpose of the project was to repair a number of areas where erosion had occurred over time. Naval Station Newport Newport, Rhode Island Watermark was awarded a contract with the NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic for the renovation of a 30,000 square foot four-story building located at the Naval Station Newport, RI. The building was used as a training facility and contained classrooms and a firing range which were in use during the renovations. This complex renovation project in an occupied space required significant project phasing and close coordination with building occupants. Watermark conducted a pre-demolition inspection that included a photographic survey of the surrounding area to document the existing condition. Hanscom Air Force Base Bedford, Massachusetts Watermark was awarded a Design-Build contract for a Mental Health Clinic Addition to the existing Health Clinic, Building 1900 at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. The footprint of the addition was constrained by the building lines of the existing building. Watermark held a concept design charrette and prepared the Concept, Pre-Final, and Final submittals which included architectural renderings. Watermark utilized in-house architects and civil engineers for the project. The new addition has a covered entrance separate and independent from the Building 1900 entrance. General Mills/Yoplait Methuen, Massachusetts Watermark was awarded a contract from General Mills/Yoplait to expand their facility by designing and building a locker room adjacent to the existing Locker Room and Café at the southwest corner of the building. The design of the new addition included architectural, structural, and civil site drawings as necessary to detail the building. The project site was in a Flood Plain Zone which necessitated inclusion of a compensatory flood storage area in the design. Watermark was responsible for securing all necessary permits. U.S. Custom House New Bedford, Massachusetts Watermark was awarded a contract with the General Services Administration (GSA) to replace 34 historic windows at the U.S. Custom House in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The project included the fabrication and installation of 24 true divided-lite 2/2 windows, replacement of 9 basement windows and removal of the existing shutters, priming and painting of all surfaces, and then reinstallation of the shutters. Prior to work starting, Watermark was required to make anHistoric Preservation submission to State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) per Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).
